This follows ongoing improvements to frontline care and places the trust among the top four out of 17 NHS organisations in the North West for four-hour A&E performance. The improvement reflects efforts across the emergency department at Warrington Hospital and urgent treatment centres in Widnes and Runcorn. One key factor has been the opening of a new Surgical Same Day Emergency Care Unit in March. The trust has also increased the number of patients who are seen by its Urgent Community Response Team. The team delivers urgent care in patients’ homes to help older adults and those with complex needs avoid unnecessary A&E visits and hospital admissions.
