David Finney, 54, was arrested after police discovered the weapon, ammunition and drugs at Sankey Valley Industrial Estate, in Newton-le-Willows, on Tuesday, February 24 this year. She told the court Finney had been "dealing to pay off a drug debt" and claimed to have found the firearm by a canal several years earlier. During his police interview, Finney claimed the firearm and ammunition had been found by a canal several years earlier. Finney pleaded guilty to possession of a prohibited firearm, two counts of possession of ammunition, and possession with intent to supply heroin and cocaine. The judge said: "It was highly likely you were in a position of trust and played a significant role (in the drugs supply) with the expectation of of some financial advantage."
