Ms Kariuki, who assumed her role on 1 August 2021, has led the World Bank’s engagement with the government of Uganda, overseeing the implementation of key development programmes. In a cordial exchange, the president thanked Ms Kariuki for her dedicated service and extended his best wishes as she concluded her assignment. Ms Kariuki expressed her gratitude to the president and the Ugandan government for the collaboration extended to her throughout her tenure. The meeting was also attended by Mr Qimiao Fan, the World Bank country director for Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, and Uganda, who is based in Nairobi. President Museveni responded by highlighting Uganda’s achievements in agricultural research, particularly in seed development and irrigation.
