PennDOT is closing a section of Hunter Road in Penn Hills, between Highview and Springwood drives, for slide repair work starting at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11. Traffic will be detoured through late August during the project. The posted detour west of the closure is as follows:• Head west on Hunter Road;• Hunter Road becomes Plum Street;• Turn left onto Allegheny River Boulevard;• Turn left onto Sandy Creek Road;• Turn left onto Verona Road, bear right to continue onto Saltsburg Road;• Turn left onto Hulton Road;• Turn left onto Hamil Road;• Turn left onto Hunter Road. East of the closure, it’s the same detour but in the opposite direction. The site, which also is available as an app, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,200 traffic cameras.
