North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said two of its crews were called out to Water Lane this afternoon at 4.08pm and 4.25pm (August 8) after reports of fires out in the open. “Crews used a backpack sprayer to damp down the area. Crew then discovered a further fire in the open within the vicinity, consisting of wood and tree branches, crews used two further backpack sprayers to extinguish,” said a spokesperson for the service. Just 17 minutes later, a second crew were also called out to Water Lane to another fire that involved 200sqm of grassland. A spokesperson added: “One hose reel and beaters used to extinguish.
