Lendal Bridge will be closed to vehicles from 8pm to 6am next Wednesday (August 12) to allow essential road resurfacing to take place safely. The overnight closure follows works in March, when the bridge was closed for three days from St Leonard’s Place to Station Road - also for resurfacing work. Cyclists travelling towards the railway station from the city centre will be diverted via Blake Street, Davygate, Parliament Street, High Ousegate, Low Ousegate, Bridge Street, Micklegate, George Hudson Street, and Rougier Street. In the opposite direction, the diversion will follow Rougier Street, George Hudson Street, Micklegate, Bridge Street, Low Ousegate, Spurriergate, Coney Street, and Lendal. All other vehicles will be diverted along Station Road, Queen Street, Blossom Street, Holgate Road (A59), Poppleton Road, Water End Bridge (A1176), Clifton (A19), and Bootham to the Gillygate junction.
