The Missouri Public Service Commission issued an order Wednesday approving an agreement between Evergy and Nucor Steel that allows their facility in Sedalia to participate in Evergy’s Business Demand Response Program. The new agreement allows Nucor to receive incentives from Evergy to reduce their energy during periods of high energy demand. Nucor has purchased energy from Evergy since 2019 under a Special Rate for Incremental Load Service tariff. The special rate program does not allow customers to participate in energy-saving programs unless allowed by an order of the PSC.
