Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service was called to Station Road at 9.09pm on Thursday, August 6, after a vehicle hit a gas main.
Firefighters stayed at the scene into Friday as gas engineers isolated the leak and made the area safe.
The fire service said the incident was under control after engineers isolated the leak.
The spokesperson added: "The gas leak has now been isolated by attending gas engineers and our stop came in at 12.38pm today."
It is unclear when gas supplies will return to all affected properties as engineers continue repairs and safety checks.
