Thurrock is one of the locations identified for a proposed centre under plans to expand neighbourhood mental health services. Samantha Goldberg, executive director of commissioning for acute and adult mental health services at NHS Essex, said: "These plans support local ambition to make it easier for people to access mental health support closer to home. The new centre is part of a wider rollout across the East of England, which will see 17 new NHS mental health centres open in the region. This will include 12 community mental health centres offering walk-in support without a referral, and five dedicated mental health emergency departments for people in crisis. “Having campaigned for better community mental health support, I’m delighted this Labour Government has listened and delivered.
