The Cottage Museum has been recognised for telling the story of the working-class families who lived in the property, beginning with Richard and Anne Thompson in 1739. The museum sits just steps from Lancaster Castle and the Judges' Lodgings, making it an easy addition to a day exploring the city's historic attractions. Voting for the Everyday History Heroes awards closes on August 31, with the national and regional winners due to be announced on September 10.
