The White Bear Inn, in Gisburn Road, was served the notice under Section 76 of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 by Pendle Council and Lancashire Police in July. At the time the authorities said that it had been served an earlier closure notice and was given several warnings as well as operating without a Designated Premises Supervisor. However, a hearing held on July 24 led to the case being thrown out by Burnley Crown Court, with magistrates refusing the application. A hearing 10 days earlier forced it to close for eight days until the hearing. The pub submitted an application to create a new beer garden and pizza kitchen at the start of the month.
