A bin wagon caught fire on Barley Lane, on August 6. Two fire engines from Burnley and Nelson responded to the incident at 10.08am. The fire service told the Lancashire Telegraph that the cause of the fire is under investigation. A spokesperson for the fire service said: "At 10.08am on 6 August 2026, two fire engines from Burnley and Nelson attended a bin wagon on fire on Barley Lane in Nelson. Crews were detained for approximately one hour."
