Rivers, it seems, are among the very few institutions in the Republic that cannot be transferred, intimidated or bribed. A Republic should never ask its bravest citizens to risk their lives pursuing people it already knows but still struggles to confront. The Republic must now decide whether it also wishes to remember why they boarded that helicopter. For there can be no sadder epitaph for any nation than this:Here lies a Republic where heroes died... while the villains simply kept digging.
