Several Montreal metro users were pepper-sprayed Thursday night during an altercation at the Place-des-Arts station, according to the STM. The incident began in a train at the station around 11 p.m., when an altercation between two men led to one of the suspects using pepper spray, according to the STM. Passengers called 911 and activated the train’s emergency brake, bringing it to a stop. STM special constables responded to assist passengers, help evacuate the trains and restore normal service. “The clientele in the train called 911 and activated the emergency brake, which immobilized the train,” STM spokesperson Laurence Houde-Roy said in an email to CityNews.
