A day before he had refused to quit as Council Chairman and things changed on Friday wherein Council Chairman Basavaraj Horatti tendered resignation to the post citing his resignation was a voluntary decision. But, the principal opposition party-the Bharatiya Janata Party is in no mood to accept that Horatti resigned “voluntarily’ and the party alleged “He resigned under pressure from the ruling Congress party.’ Shivakumar stated the resignation of Basavaraj Horatti was over recent political developments and he thanked Horatti for his resignation from the post of Council chairman. Shivakumar stated the new Council Chairman will be elected on August 14 after the election of Deputy Chairman of the Council. Responding to a reported no-confidence motion planned by Congress party against Basavaraj Horatti, Shivakumar stated “Now the question does not arise since he has stepped down from the post.”
