KAKINADA: Rajya Sabha member Sana Satish Babu has urged Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to provide a scheduled commercial halt for the Visakhapatnam–Secunderabad Vande Bharat Express (Train Nos. 20833/20834) at Tuni railway station, citing a long-pending public demand from North Coastal Andhra Pradesh. In a representation submitted to the Railway Minister in New Delhi on Friday, Satish Babu said the Vande Bharat Express currently runs non-stop for nearly 151 km between Visakhapatnam and Samalkot, one of the longest uninterrupted stretches on its route. He said Tuni is strategically located between the two stations and that a two-minute halt would bridge the gap while having only a negligible impact on the train's overall journey time. The MP pointed out that Tuni is a major commercial and transport hub serving a large catchment area comprising Tuni, Payakaraopeta, Kotananduru, Prathipadu, Rowthulapudi, Yeleswaram and the entire Narsipatnam subdivision.
