She was initially admitted to a private hospital in Rajamahendravaram before being shifted to Hyderabad for advanced treatment. Prakash Nagar police registered a case and arrested the two accused. Students of Rajamahendravaram Women's College staged a protest march expressing solidarity with Priyanka and demanding stringent punishment for the accused. Former MP and YSRC leader Margani Bharat alleged that weaker sections had been applied and demanded that a murder case be registered against the accused. Visweswara Reddy also condemned the incident and called for stricter regulation of liquor shops and illegal belt shops.
