Hyderabad:The department of economic affairs (DEA) has approved Telangana’s Rs 4,000-crore urban transformation and jobs programme for further appraisal which allows the state to proceed with a proposal that seeks about Rs 2,800 crore in World Bank financing. The municipal administration department has prepared the programme for selected urban clusters, particularly Tier-II and Tier-III cities. It proposes improvements to water supply, sewerage, stormwater drainage, urban mobility, blue-green projects, climate resilience measures and public spaces, alongside changes in municipal administration and local finances. Proposed World Bank financing accounts for $301 million, or about Rs 2,800 crore. The programme also proposes City Economic Regions, better regional connectivity, area redevelopment and private investment to support economic activity and employment.
