CMC Directs Zomato, Swiggy to Delist Non-Compliant Food Outlets, Mandates FSSAI Verification

Hyderabad:The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) officials told Zomato and Swiggy to ensure the establishments listed on their platform have a valid Trade and Food license.
These platforms were told to delist and cancel food business operators repeatedly violating food safety and hygiene norms, verify the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) licence number, validity and category of business before onboarding.
“The companies responded positively, assured its cooperation in strengthening these measures, taking the ongoing CMC food safety initiative a step further towards safer food for consumers,” she said.
“Our next enforcement drive will be on stores selling meat.
The ones selling meat that is not safe for human consumption, operating in hygienic premises and storage of meat will also be checked.
