Edwinstowe could expand by dozens of homes after plans were submitted to the council. The site of the former Thoresby Colliery in Edwinstowe has been undergoing a major transformation after it closed in 2015. The Thoresby Vale development could end up growing, with Harworth submitting plans to Newark and Sherwood District Council to use a bit of space previously earmarked for employment land for up to 75 new homes. Supermarket giant Aldi has recently submitted its reserved matter application to the council for a new store off Ollerton Road, as part of the Thoresby Vale development, which could create 40 jobs. Thoresby Vale Primary Academy opened in September 2025.
