Interwoven, which opens at St Laurence Church on Saturday, August 8 and runs on selected Fridays and Saturdays throughout the month, combines hands-on weaving with a participatory survey that asks visitors a simple but searching question: “How would you describe yourself?” “We will be taking our lovely looms into the church and weaving. It is a communal piece with members of the local community, where we'll be inviting them to choose a thread that they feel represents themselves. "We’ll end up with a beautiful community woven piece for people in the local area, which will be left in the church and enjoyed for generations to come.” Visitors can drop in to St Laurence Church on Saturday, August 8, 15, 22 and 29 from 10.30am to 1pm, and on Friday, August 14, 21 and 28 from 10am to 1pm, to learn a simple technique, contribute to the communal cloth and add their own words to an evolving portrait of the St Laurence community.
