Fridges, freezers and any cooling item brought to household recycling centres in the county will not be accepted for a temporary period from Saturday, August 8. Gloucestershire County Council said a national issue affecting the collection and processing of fridges and freezers means it will have to stop accepting them at HRCs temporarily from the weekend. “The number of appliances arriving at sites is currently far greater than the number that can be removed, making a temporary suspension unavoidable,” a GCC spokesperson said. “This week, Warwickshire County Council announced an immediate suspension at its household recycling centres, following similar action taken elsewhere, including Nottinghamshire and South Gloucestershire.” “Please be kind to staff doing their jobs, who have not control over this issue,” the spokesperson added.
