It was third time lucky for developers in their bid to build homes on a greenfield site between Stratford and Shottery, despite a wave of objections from local residents and councillors. Stratford District Council’s planning committee last Wednesday (29th July) approved plans by Orbit Homes and Grevayne Properties for 65 ‘affordable’ homes on the south side of the Alcester Road leading out of Stratford, immediately beyond the Saltway Centre. Stratford District CouncilIt was the third time that Grevayne had sought to develop the site – previous applications in 2016 and 2017 were refused. The third bid, submitted in July last year, was originally for 70 homes but, in the wake of the barrage of criticism various amendments were made, including reducing the number of proposed homes to 65. The approval for the new homes is subject to the developers agreeing an acceptable drainage scheme with the county council, as the lead local flooding authority.
