The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has made a concerted effort to remove non-compliant electronic logging devices from its approved list – revoking 55 ELDs so far in 2026. “FMCSA is committed to ensuring that electronic logging devices meet the highest standards for accuracy, reliability, and compliance,” FMCSA Administrator Derek Barrs said. There are currently 953 electronic logging devices on FMCSA’s approved list. In addition to removing non-compliant ELDs from the approved list, there are other potential changes on the horizon when it comes to electronic logging devices. In addition to those potential changes, FMCSA has also announced a “complete overhaul” of the vetting process for ELDs.
