Nearly two decades after fleeing her home in August 2008, Madona Okropiridze still dreams of returning to South Ossetia.
The war in South Ossetia in 1991–1992 changed her life forever.
That year, Okropiridze and her husband were taken hostage and brought to South Ossetia’s capital, Tskhinvali (Tskhinval), in the middle of the night.
A residential building in Gori bombed by Russian forces during the 2008 August War.
Nearly 18 years after leaving Disevi, Okropiridze still hopes she will one day return.
