MÉRIDA, YUCATÁN — The results of the 13th Yucatán Architecture Biennial (XIII Bienal de Arquitectura Yucateca) have officially been announced, spotlighting standard-setting architectural design and regional innovation across Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula. The honors consisted of 1 Gold Medal, 14 Silver Medals, and 13 Honorable Mentions. Taking home the event’s highest honor, the prestigious Gold Medal, was Kikí Tulum, a collective housing project designed by Central de Proyectos SCP. Other categories across the biennial celebrated excellence in heritage preservation, commercial structures, public space design, and social housing. The Yucatán Architecture Biennial remains a crucial platform for promoting the region’s architectural talent, underlining the evolution of contemporary Mexican design and its ongoing dialog with regional traditions and materials.
