A formal, citizen-led bid has now been submitted by the Wrexham Community & Culture Trust, with support from Wrexham County Borough Council. Amanda Evans, director of Wrexham’s UK City of Culture 2029 bid, said: "Here in Wrexham, we like to play. The Wrecsam2029 bid builds on Wrexham’s reputation for radical playwork, centuries of enterprise and its unique borderland identity. Joanna Knight OBE, chair of Wrexham Community & Culture Trust, said: "At the heart of the Wrecsam2029 bid are the hopes and dreams of the people of Wrexham. Wrexham has maintained its commitment to culture through ongoing investment, including hosting the National Eisteddfod 2025 and developing the Wrexham Public Art Trail.
