The 1989 Rush song Neil Peart viewed as timeless: “We loved playing it”Over the course of their career, which has now been going for more than 50 years, Rush have learned the hard way that some songs naturally quickly feel outdated. From their inception during the counterculture boom of the late 1960s to their pioneering style of progressive and hard rock, their impact on the landscape of rock was colossal. Admittedly, even the band members themselves were not overly convinced by the use of keyboards and synths within their work, causing them to return to their iconic hard rock sound. This return to form was marked by the release of their celebrated 1989 record Presto, released on the Canadian independent label Anthem Records. However, in the live arena, Rush continued to develop the creations, which eventually sounded bundles better than they did on the record.
