By Bryan LapriseLocal Journalism InitiativeAs Hydro-Québec’s call for tenders February 2027 deadline approaches, wind turbines are a hot topic for citizens and elected officials of the Coaticook area.
Innergex, a Quebec-owned renewable energy company already behind many hydroelectricity and wind farm facilities across Quebec and around the world, is proposing a project in the Coaticook MRC.
“The Coaticook MRC is a very beautiful area, so we don’t want to break the visual aspect of the MRC for the sake of money.”
In addition to more rigorous studies on the effects of wind turbines, the group would like a better way to measure social acceptability.
Laroche also invites citizens with questions to visit the Coaticook MRC website for a page with answers to common questions.
