Austin Voters to Decide on $295 Million Park, Library Bond
[]
KLBJ-AM – Austin, TX
Austin voters will decide this November whether to approve a $295 million bond package to fund park and library projects across the city after the Austin City Council voted to place the measure on the ballot Tuesday.
The proposal includes about $260 million for parks and recreation improvements and another $35 million for library projects.
If approved by voters, the funding would support upgrades to parks, pools, trails, recreation centers and library facilities throughout Austin.
The council approved calling the election on an 8-3 vote despite significant public opposition during recent meetings, as well as on social media.
Austin voters will have the final say when the bond package appears on the Nov. 3 ballot.
