Disney is leaning into TikTok’s cultural pull, striking what it called a “first-of-its-kind agreement” that will let users of the short-form video app add extracts from Disney films and characters to their posts. In announcing the partnership, Walt Disney said it aims to spotlight fan creativity within its own streaming ecosystem. “The agreement will bring creators to the forefront of Disney+, with a curated feed of fan-created content featuring our characters and stories,” the company said. Disney is not alone in betting on vertical video as streaming services adjust to a format gaining rapid traction in the United States. In a survey, nearly half of viewers said they watched a movie or TV show after coming across related content on TikTok.
