A comprehensive tree maintenance scheme has been proposed at the Deanery College of Residence on Marsh Lane. The plan includes crown lifting and selective thinning for several trees on site, including pear, lime, London plane, Turkish hazel, Norway maple, sycamore, birch and yew. Lime trees will be pruned to increase clearance above footpaths and highways, while other trees will be managed to improve health, reduce deadwood and prevent damage to nearby structures such as historic walls. Prior approval has been requested for a change of use at 400-402 Bitterne Road Precinct to convert part of the commercial premises into two three-bedroom flats. The application seeks to change the building from Commercial, Business and Service (Use Class E) to a mixed-use development, including residential accommodation.
