August 15 Declared ‘India Day’ Across Massachusetts And BostonBOSTON, MA – Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey has declared August 15 as ‘India Day’, honoring India’s Independence Day and recognizing the contributions of Indian Americans to the state’s economy, culture and public life.
Massachusetts Lieutenant Governor Kimberley Driscoll and Secretary of the Commonwealth William Francis Galvin also endorsed the proclamation, calling on residents across the state to observe and celebrate India Day.
It also highlighted the role of the Indian American community in Massachusetts in areas such as entrepreneurship, public service, education, innovation, healthcare and scientific research.
It further noted that the Indian American community in Massachusetts commemorates the occasion with events celebrating India’s cultural heritage, democratic values, and commitment to progress.
Separately, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu has also declared August 15 as ‘India Day’ in the city, reinforcing recognition of the Indian American community at the municipal level.
