Qatar Museums (QM) has received international recognition through the 2026 Global Challenge for World Heritage Education Innovative Cases (AWHEIC), with its ‘Tamkeen: Empowering Arab Youth for Sustainable Heritage’ programme receiving a Star of the Future award.
The recognition highlights Qatar Museums’ work in heritage education and youth empowerment, while reinforcing Qatar’s role in promoting cultural diplomacy and the preservation of cultural heritage.
The Global Challenge for World Heritage Education Innovative Cases was introduced in 2021 by the World Heritage Institute of Training and Research for the Asia and the Pacific Region (WHITR-AP), a UNESCO Category 2 Centre established in 2008.
The initiative recognises innovative approaches to World Heritage education and highlights the role of young people and local communities in safeguarding heritage sites and preserving their values.
Qatar Museums said it remains committed to investing in young people and advancing heritage education in line with the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030.
