The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) has welcomed the release of 15 detainees as part of the Doha Peace Process in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. The release took place under the detainee release mechanism signed in Doha in September 2025. According to the statement, the release represents an important step towards building trust between the parties and creating favourable conditions for further progress towards peaceful and sustainable solutions in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. It expressed hope that the latest development would encourage further confidence-building measures and contribute to peace, development and stability for the Congolese people. The release forms part of ongoing efforts under the Doha Peace Process aimed at supporting peace and stability in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo.
