New fencing and installation of a lighting system for the Cenotaph at Rotary Park in Cranbrook is to begin on Monday, August 10, with construction to take about five weeks to complete. 24 approached the City of Cranbrook regarding concerns of ongoing vandalism around the Cenotaph. The city has also been coordinating with the Fisher Peak Performing Arts Society to ensure that this construction work has as little negative impact as possible to the Thursday night Summer Sounds event in Rotary Park. The public are asked to please use caution while accessing the Cenotaph area at Rotary Park, while the contractor is working for your safety. Work is expected to be completed ahead of the Royal Canadian Legion’s 100th Anniversary on September 12.
