It proves that secure elections and expanded voting opportunities are not opposing goals; North Carolina can achieve both. North Carolina’s election system is secure, accurate, transparent and strong. Let’s not allow the strength of today’s election system become the enemy of an even better system tomorrow. A rural county could also open an additional site in an outlying community for several strategically selected days. It would create a professional pathway into county election offices and prepare graduates to become deputy directors, directors, and senior state election officials.
