Day 2 of the World U20 Championships in Eugene, Ore., delivered plenty of speed, highlighted by thrilling men’s and women’s 100m finals and the mixed 4x100m relay semi-final, with the young athletes living up to expectations. The rarely contested U20 mixed 4x100m relay opened the sprints during the morning session, with the world U20 record falling twice. The U.S. was unable to make it three WU20R in a row, finishing in 41.82 to win the final heat. With four teams breaking the 42-second barrier, Saturday’s final has the potential to produce another record. “There were some tweaks I was looking to fix after the semifinals, and I think I executed those tweaks pretty well,” Taylor told World Athletics.
