Canadian mountain athlete Adam Campbell returned to the 100-mile distance last weekend at the Crazy Mountain 100 in Montana, finishing second overall in 25:38:02. It was Campbell’s first 100-miler since Hardrock 100 in 2017; he finished behind men’s winner Pete Behrends, who ran 22:46:25, and ahead of Nick Kuneman, who was third in 26:06:33. The Crazy Mountain 100 runs point-to-point from Wilsall to Lennep, Mont., with more than 7,000 metres of climbing through the Crazy Mountains. His last race at the distance, Hardrock 2017, came less than a year after a serious mountaineering accident in Rogers Pass, B.C. What comes nextAfter the race, Campbell called Crazy Mountain “a truly special event” for runners who like mountain running and off-trail travel, adding that it was “definitely not your average 100.”
