Rona AhdoutMH: Since you two were both relatively new to the whole Anthony Bourdain experience, did you talk to any die-hard fans during the production process? MJ: Every once in a while, people would chime in with ideas to keep us on track—people who knew more about Anthony Bourdain than we might. And in that sense, yes, we wanted to show Anthony Bourdain as a role model, but we also want to deconstruct it.
