Harris County DA’s investigation into fatal ICE shooting gets $2.5 million boost from commissioners

Bianca Seward/Houston Public MediaHarris County District Attorney Sean Teare’s investigation into the ICE shooting death of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo will get a $2.5 million boost with the approval of a funding provision Thursday.
Commissioners unanimously approved the funds for the independent investigation into the shooting death of Salgado Araujo by a federal immigration officer in Houston’s East End last month.

Houston Public Media first reported last month that the district attorney’s office would conduct an independent investigation into the shooting.
Several entities — including the Texas Rangers and the Department of Public Safety — are also investigating the circumstances of the shooting.
