Red Deer’s unemployment rate experienced a minor increase in July. Statistics Canada provides seasonally-adjusted unemployment rates for four Alberta regions: Red Deer, Lethbridge, Edmonton and Calgary. Red Deer has the highest unemployment rate of these four regions. Lethbridge’s unemployment rate in July was 5.6 per cent, while Calgary’s was 6.8 per cent and Edmonton’s was 6.9 per cent. On a year-over-year basis, private sector employment grew by 64,400 and public sector employment increased by 23,700.
