The Caribbean requires stronger partnerships because the scale and complexity of the threat demands a collective response. However, as Trinidad and Tobago embraces this opportunity, we must also carefully consider the timing and the impact on our own national security priorities. Addressing the arms pipeline must therefore be a central component of any regional security strategy. The two priorities that must remain at the centre of this conversation are clear: national security and regional unity. National security requires us to take every necessary step to protect our citizens and build stronger capabilities against evolving threats.
