Cape Town’s iconic Sea Point Promenade is set for a major safety overhaul as the City moves to introduce stricter rules for e-scooters, e-bikes and other electric mobility devices, Cape {town} Etc reports.
Back in April, two young girls were struck by an electric scooter while walking along the Sea Point Promenade.
The first phase of the changes will see the introduction of a formal Sea Point Promenade Management Protocol, alongside new signage explaining exactly what is and isn’t allowed.
‘The Sea Point Promenade is one of Cape Town’s most loved public spaces, but it has also become one of our busiest,’ she said.
‘Our goal is straightforward: to keep the Sea Point Promenade safe, welcoming and accessible for everyone.
