Michigan Democrat Abdul El Sayed has emerged from his party primary with a Senate nomination and a sizable controversy attached to his campaign. El Sayed will face Republican Mike Rogers in a closely watched midterm contest that could help determine control of the Senate. Among the donors identified were CAIR national Board Chair Manal Fakhoury, national Vice Chair Emad Sabbah, national Board Treasurer Eyas Abdeen, and CAIR Michigan board member Jukaku Tayeb. The list of contributors also included Rubina Alvi, Asaad Traina, Muzammil Ahmed, Atef Ibrahim, Dina Ezzeddine, and former CAIR national Board Chair Roula Allouch. Ahmed, a CAIR Michigan board member, reportedly gave $11,600, making him one of the more prominent individual donors named in the review.
