EV salary sacrifice schemes have transformed into a key component of UK employers’ sustainability and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) goals, a new study has found. Tusker’s latest EV Employer Survey 2026 highlights how car salary sacrifice schemes are evolving from being a traditional employee transport benefit, to a strategic tool for employers responding to increasing pressure to meet sustainability and environmental targets. Reflecting this shift, nearly three-quarters (72%) of employers said that providing employees with an affordable way to drive electric cars was a key reason for offering a car salary sacrifice scheme. More than half (57%) of employers say a salary sacrifice company car scheme has helped them to achieve their sustainability objectives. Environmental accountability remains front of mind, with three-quarters (75%) of employers saying it is important for EV salary sacrifice schemes to include a CO2 cap to help align employee benefits with wider sustainability strategies.
