Senators Josh Hawley of Missouri, Jim Banks of Indiana, and Tommy Tuberville of Alabama have filed an amendment to the Protect College Sports Act aimed at preserving state laws that prohibit biological males from participating in women’s sports. They said the proposal would explicitly protect laws already enacted by individual states. Hawley said biological men should not be permitted to compete in women’s sports or enter women’s locker rooms. He said lawmakers must ensure state laws designed to protect women remain in effect. The amendment was jointly filed by Hawley, Banks, and Tuberville as debate continues over the Protect College Sports Act and its potential effect on existing state laws governing women’s athletics.
