The latest read from the Global Port Tracker shows the peak shipping season winding down, but import volume should remain high this month before steadily declining. Ports haven’t reported July numbers, but Global Port Tracker projects 2.21 million TEUs, which is down 7.6 percent year over year. The NRF noted that temporary 10 percent Section 122 global tariffs that took effect in February had expired on July 23. September is estimated at 2.16 million TEUs (up 2.8 percent); October at 2.13 million TEUs (up 2.7 percent); November at 2.03 million TEUs (up 0.3 percent); and December is pegged to come in at 2.06 million TEUs, which is up 2.5 percent over last year. The report noted that imports totaled 25.4 million TEUs in 2025—a 0.3 percent drop from 25.5 million TEUs in 2024.
