While the closure is underway, the nearby splash pad and playground near it will remain open.
The new playground will be an updated version of the existing castle-themed playground with a plastic slide attached to one of the towers.
Crews will begin removing a commemorative tile wall that welcomes guests to the wooden castle playground.
A digital archive has been created so that residents, community supporters and visitors can view and download the available images of the tiles.
The county says it recognizes the importance of the tile wall, and the digital archive is being used to preserve its legacy.
