J&K Braces for Heavy Rain From Aug 9, Flash Flood Alert Issued

KO file photo by Abid BhatSrinagar- Jammu and Kashmir is set to witness a fresh 10-day wet spell, with the Meteorological Department (MeT) forecasting widespread rainfall and warning of heavy to very heavy showers, flash floods, landslides and waterlogging between August 9 and 11.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall has been forecast for a few districts of Jammu division, while isolated districts in Kashmir division are likely to witness brief intense heavy showers.
The department said intermittent light rain and thundershowers are also expected from August 12 to 17, with brief intense showers likely at a few places.
Srinagar recorded a maximum of 28.5 degrees Celsius, 1.4 degrees below normal, while Pahalgam settled at 23.5 degrees Celsius, 2.2 degrees below the seasonal average.
Kupwara recorded 28.3 degrees Celsius, 2.4 degrees below normal, and Gulmarg registered a maximum of 20.2 degrees Celsius.
